Minus 2

I went to the doctor this morning with high hopes of him telling me to just walk across the street to labor and delivery and have my baby. Of course, that did not happen, but my doctor was in an uncharacteristically (wouldn't you love to score that in Scrabble!) happy mood. He joked with us and was...well...nice! I also, brace yourself, LOST 2 pounds!!! You are asking, how in the world does that happen after the Thanksgiving holiday. Well, I ate a whole pie e and half a turkey and what seemed like a pound of dressing. Did I mention all the frosted cookies my aunt made? My theory is that the scales in the doctors office were wrong last week, and I really gained nothing the week prior. But either way, it made for a fantastic visit! I am dilated to a three and now 60% effaced. I have been upgraded from an estimate of 7-10 days to "any time". I am really hoping to hold off until at least Friday because that will put me, I mean, the baby, with a December birthstone (blue topaz which can be substituted with turquoise, be still my heart!!). I am just ready to prove once and for all that I am carrying a GIRL. Her heart-rate was a mere 120 today though. It seems a little...boyish. hmmmmm The next post will most likely be after I "push a wet St. Bernard out a doggie door" as my brother so eloquently puts it. Men!! I will let you know if we have a sweet little Brooke or a boy with the dreadful name Hank.
