Introducing Ellie Diane!!

We had a new baby girl Sunday morning at 8:57. She weighed 7lb 5.5 ounces and was 19 inches long. We had a very eventful (and scary for me!) labor and delivery, but all turned out well with both of us being just perfect. We went in with the intent to name our daughter Brooke Rhena, but when I saw her it just didn't fit. So, I didn't call her anything but baby girl and tried to smile when others around me called her Brooke. FInally, I said something to my dear sweet husband (he was AWESOME!!) this morning, and he replies, "yeah. it isn't sticking for me either"!! WHY didn't he tell me sooner. So, the doctors came in and discharged us, but we couldn't leave until the birth certificate was filled out in ALL appropriate places, which meant we had to find a name. For those of you have been around, settling on Brooke was hard enough. Having no time and no ideas was going to be impossible! So, we start deliberations and end up with 4 choices. Mykal Rhena, Madalyn Rhena, Ellie Rhena or Ellie Diane. Rather quickly Madalyn was tossed aside with Ellie Rhena soon after. Cameron liked the idea of naming her after family. His choice was Kellie Diane after both of our mothers, but as you can see, that was not on MY list. So, I was thinking that we could still technically name her after both of our mothers by dropping the K in Kellie. He liked this idea. Of course, he liked it better with the K... So we were still having to choose between Mykal and Ellie. When she came out, my first thought was, this has to be Mykal because of the strong Biblical origin and the fact that we triumphed over the difficult birth. However, I would always have to say ours kids names are Gracie, Faith, and Mykal and then follow that with "no, it is 3 girls" because most would assume 2 girls and a boy. That and the other two names are relatively feminine and Mykal is not. It is just so darn cute though!! We ended up with Ellie, which I do really like. So, that is the quick version of our eventful weekend, and now I must go to nurse dear Ellie again. She just can't get enough of this breastfeeding!! Later, I will tell you all about the water breaking...that is a fun one!! hehehe
