Calling for Advice!!!
Okay friends. Faith turns three on the 25th. I was not planning on having a big party this year. Just letting her choose a place for dinner and having her cake, presents, balloons with just us. However, today Cameron told me that he thinks we should have a party. So I have 2 weeks to plan this thing. I usually have dinner for extended family and let the kiddos play. Not really any structure, no games or anything like that. I want to do something different. But I have NO IDEA WHAT! Faith enjoys playing. Just running and being silly. She also loves strawberries. So I was thinking Strawberry Shortcake. Cute, easy, readily available. Now, what else? Do I feed everybody? Do I request kids only? Then that leaves out all the adults that want to celebrate with her. So do I have dinner on her actual birthday for them? This all overwhelms me. My personality does not make this fun. I would rather be alone and have an intimate celebration. hehehe So, I beg of you, tell me what you would do. And quickly!!

Guess what...Faith is turning THREE!! Doesn't seem possible, does it? You always have spectacular parties, and that's probably why it feels so overwhelming...because you've set such high expectations for yourself. We (assuming I can speak for most of your family & friends) don't have to have an elaborate meal, or super-extravagant decorations, party favors, etc. We just like being part of the celebration and watching her play and enjoy opening her gifts. Cupcakes and a scoop of ice cream is moe than enough. The backyard or even McDonalds would be great. Whatever you plan, just be sure that it's simple enough that YOU can enjoy it without having to labor (& stress) over it to the point it isn't fun for YOU. After all, it's YOUR BIRTHday too! Oooh, haven't given you a good maw-in-law lecture in a long time-ha! We really hated missing Ellie's 1st, after it had to be postponed due to sick girls! Whatever you do, we'll make it a point to be there if at all possible. Love to all..
What about having a "pot luck". Could be with kiddo favorites. You know like mac and cheese, hot dogs, and some goodies for the adults too. It will help you not stress over food, and then guests can feel like they contributed to festivities. Strawberry short cake decor sounds really cute too. Patti's party has invitations you can get individually for .30 cents, so you wind up with invitations for under $1 a piece, that are fast and cheap to do. if you find one you like anyway. If it's pretty you can have a 3 legged race, have the kids play tag maybe, or just enjoy being outside and the adults enjoy being together.
When we have our parties at home, we usually just have cake, punch and some small snacks. Sometimes I make the cake, cupcakes and/or cookies and sometimes I buy it. I have gotten my party supplies (invitations, plates, napkins, thank you cards, decorations, etc.)from Birthday Party Express and have been really pleased. You can order everything online from one place. The kiddos come with their parents and of course we never have too many...just family and close friends.
Oops...I meant Birthday Express. Here's one I found with a quick search. http://www.celebrateexpress.com/celebration/Refine.aspx?iRec=16&pageID=1&TabID=4294967232&N=4294967232&search=strawberry%20shortcake
They also have some more cute themes.
