Therefore, because the real meaning of Easter is so much more than candy and eggs, I am pledging before you, my peeps (can we say YUM), to make sure my girls know what Jesus did for them this Easter. Because, as I listened to my girls talk in the car yesterday morning, I realized the little ones don't get it. Gracie was saying how excited she was about Easter, and Ellie pipes in that she is too. She couldn't wait to get a present. Gracie scolded her and told her that Easter is about Jesus. And Ellie's reply? "Easter is about JESUS??" To which Gracie replied, "yes, and I cannot believe He died on Earth Day! Even though Earth Day wasn't invented when He died. It is still Earth Day." Oh my. I have some work to do. :)

Easter
I was talking to Cam last night about Easter and the whole Easter Bunny thing and how it seems to make Easter not so real. It dulls the meaning. I am so focused on finding time to go out without the girls to get some treats for their baskets that I haven't even paused to truly dwell on how significant this time of year is. This is when my Jesus was scorned, spit on, betrayed, and brutally murdered just because He loves me so much (you can include yourselves here too because I am just that nice). He knew I was gonna mess up. He knew that I was gonna be a sinner. He wanted to accept the death consequence for me before I ever even needed Him too. And not only did He do all that, but then He came back in a miraculous display of His glory and splendor. Not even death can conquer my Lord! WHOOP!!

Gracie gets it. People just ruined it by naming also wanting earth day, the same day...I think to over shadow Easter, the Resurrection. You and Cam do a great job with your girlies, they will get what it means eventually. Keep working on it mama.
I was thinking along the lines of why is Jesus not enough? We ADD so much confusion with all the "fun" stuff that we lose the significance. Well, I do anyway... :>)
