Afternoon bags

This afternoon I decided to make my friend's kiddos some pillowcase-type bags that she was wanting to make but didn't have time to...here they are! And don't you DARE laugh. I know that I can't draw and the boot and hat are a little questionable, but it was my first time!!

Craftiness

Here is a bit of craftiness that I haven't shared...

I made some hairbows Sunday. Burnt the dog out of my fingers!

Our springtime placemats made from hands and feet . My buddy Jaymie and I like to do them for every holiday or season...

magnetic boards made with mod podge and scrapbook paper (each board only cost $1.25!!) **this was Jaymie's idea and her husband drilled the holes...she helped too :) LOL

The boards in use

a little bit of a close up. See those super cute magnets I made??

Our "center" of antonyms and synonyms. Gracie did this and is SO proud. I overheard her telling Faith (after Faith asked her how long she was leaving that up there) that she was "not taking them down until we move, and we are going to live here a LONG time!"

Solar System Project

We have been learning a little about planets and our solar system (what is up with them taking Pluto away from us??!!), so Gracie made a model of the solar system today. She is SO proud of it! We put some glow in the dark paint on it, and she is sleeping on the top bunk tonight so she can see it (she doesn't like to sleep up there alone, so Ellie is up there with her). It was a lot of fun..in fact, I may have like it even more than she did...

Gracie Singing Coming 'Round the Mountain

video

I just thought this was too funny. She got a little twang to her voice and sang this all. day. long. Notice sweet sister entering in with the cheesy grin. LOL

okay

After much thought and feedback from people whom I admire a great deal, I have deleted the post of slingshot Faith. I have the same pictures in my scrapbook, so they are there for me to look at and remember, but I just don't feel right about people looking at her with dirty thoughts in their minds. I feel sad that I even have to worry about it, but Satan grips people all sorts of ways and I do not want to be a stumbling block to them or a help to their sin. So. Thank you so very much for telling me what to do! :)

And yes, D'Etta I read that you are moving...you are an encouragement to me with your godly attitude and excitement over such a move. I struggle with allowing God to send us anywhere He needs...I tend to hold tightly to family and comfort and forget that God has such BIG plans for us all that what I want won't even compare. Thank you! And I also scored a copy of your lapbooking tutorial sheet :). I am excited about that!

Have you ever looked at your name so many times that is starts to look...wrong?

One week!!

It has been a week since I posted last, and I swear to you it feels more like a month! My brother and his family came to visit last Friday and stayed all week. The kids had a FANTASTIC time playing and Shanna and I ran our tails off chasing them! It was nice getting to talk and talk and talk some more with my sweet sister. We went to the zoo, up to see my cousin Jenn, to Dunkin Donuts (where Shanna squealed with excitement because it was a "real" store and not in a gas station! lol), and just hung out. It was a nice week!

Now I have crafty projects planned. I am going to re-pot and plant some new plants, paint some furniture that is in my kitchen, decoupage some random things, maybe make some curtains, and other smallish "stuff". I can't wait!

The two littles were a bit under the weather two days ago...they had a high fever and no other symptoms (Faith complained of a sore throat). I have to admit, those are my favorite kinds of illness. It almost feels like a break to me! They just lay on the couch all sleepy and quiet for 24 hours...bliss I tell you! :)

Okay. I also have a tough question for you all. Well, not tough. But I need honesty. A long while ago I posted a picture of Faith wearing my swim suit in a goofy way and made some quip about slinghot, stripper, or something of the like. I have had two anonymous posts that were HATEFUL saying I was inviting predators in and was the worst mother in the world and other such mean things...I have looked at this post over and over trying to see how it was "inviting" (and you can search at the top for it using slingshot--it comes up right away, but I don't want to put a link to there right now...). Should I delete it? I keep this blog as a bit of a journal that I can look back on, so that is my hesitation, but if I truly am asking for people to look at her (seems to me that they are the ones with the big problem, not me) then maybe I should remove it. Do me a favor. check out that post and tell me what to do :) Thanks for your help!

Long Night

So. Last night on my long drive home from church on the wet, slick interstate in the dreary rain, I came upon an accident. This young lady had hydroplaned her little truck and was stuck sitting across two lanes of flowing traffic. Alone. So as I watched the vehicles speeding around her missing her by just inches (the drivers door was on the side facing traffic), I decided to stop. I pulled up across both lanes myself and put on my flashers, hoping that the traffic would not hit my car full of precious cargo. I put on my raincoat and went to her window after cautioning my girls to remain buckled up in their seats. She was scared, had just called 9-1-1, and was SO thankful that I had stopped. Another man in a truck stoppped to see if he could get her truck running (to no avail) after about 10 minutes, and then the police FINALLY showed up. He called a wrecker and we waited. And waited. And then waited some more. She was in my car by this time thanking me a thousand times. And I kept thinking, "I never stop to help people. There are too many crazies out there to put me and my girls in danger. But there was NO way I could this girl alone with the crazies!" A little more than an hour after I stopped, the wrecker arrived. He loaded up her truck and I took her to a friend. I got home around 10:15 with sleepy sleepy children, but I was filled with the knowledge that I did it "for the least of these".

Dreams

The weather was balmy today, so I picked up the house, turned off all the lights, lit my mango peach salsa Yankee candle and soaked it in while pretending I was on a white sandy beach with aqua blue water lapping at my toes. I had salmon marinating, an eggplant recipe to try, and brownies for dessert. Instead, I went to see the cutest 7 year old boy ever sing his heart out about America. I got to visit Colby's first grade classroom and see what a "real" school looks like. Then Whataburger was dinner. Sometimes, life doesn't turn out to be exactly what you had dreamed about all afternoon, but it turns out even better. I was blessed by his sweetness and his request that we come.

Guaranteed to Make you Smile!

That is what the side of the box says. My heart was racing at the thought that some secret person mailed me a gift that was "guaranteed to make me smile". I flipped the box over looking for a clue as to who this mysterious gift was from. I see this line, "a Gift From: Outback Steakhouse". I admit, my tummy was tickling and I was h-a-p-p-y. This company, who royally messed up our Valentines dinner, that I emailed and not so nicely spilled their mistakes to the higher ups was sending me The Christie Cookie in an Outback tin. Along with a $25 gift card. I thought, as bad as it was, and as bad as it was the previous three times we went to their fine eating establishment, and even though I swore not to go back, I will. I will go and I will be grateful and smiling and happy and thrilled that they honestly tried to rectify their mistakes. Because I am a valuable customer.

Birthday Pictures

She just couldn't stop that big smile!
We were singing, and she was getting into position to blow out her candles. She was super excited!

She is the sweetest little stinker ever! How adorable is this face?

The new Sharpay dress. She l-o-v-e-s it!

Check out that leotard! She is waiting with her eyes closed for Cam to bring her a present that wasn't wrapped. Again, she was SO excited.
